Who Owns the Media? When and Why Re-Licensing Is Required

When you book a real estate shoot with Radiate, you’re not purchasing the media itself—you’re purchasing a license to use it. That license gives you the right to use the content to market a specific property under your name or your brokerage.

Because we retain full ownership of all photos and videos we produce (as is standard under copyright law), that license only applies to the original use case it was intended for. If the situation changes—like the property is relisted with a different agent or the media is used in a new way—a re-license is required.

Why Is a License Non-Transferable?

Our licenses are issued to a specific agent or company for a single property listing. That means the content can’t be reused, transferred, or shared with another party—whether that’s a different agent, a builder, a vacation rental host, or another company.

If someone else wants to use the content, we’re happy to work directly with them to issue a new license that fits their needs.

Common Reasons You May Need to Re-License Media:

• The listing is transferred to a new agent or brokerage

• The property is temporarily taken off the market, then relisted

• The content will be used for a different purpose, such as:

• Airbnb or vacation rental listings

• Builder or designer portfolios

• Long-term rental marketing

• Promotional materials beyond the original listing

How Much Does It Cost to Re-License?

Re-licensing is significantly more affordable than a full re-shoot. Re-licensing is more affordable than a full re-shoot and is based on how the media will be used. Pricing takes into account factors like usage type, distribution, and who will be using the content. Reach out with the details, and we’ll provide a quick quote. This ensures proper use of the content while keeping costs manageable for all parties involved.
