How Does Weather Affect My Real Estate Photos and Videos?
Weather can impact how your real estate photos and videos turn out, especially when it comes to natural light and sky conditions. At Radiate, we’re happy to move forward in a variety of conditions—but we want to give you a clear idea of what to expect so you can make the best decision based on your goals and timeline.
Do You Still Shoot on Cloudy Days?
Yes—we do! Cloudy conditions often create soft, even lighting, which is great for interiors and can minimize harsh shadows. Exterior images will appear more muted, but we enhance sky color and brightness during editing so they still look clean and polished.
Some clients even prefer cloudy-day lighting because of its balanced tone. Others prefer the vibrancy and contrast that comes with a sunny day. It’s truly a matter of preference.
How Does Weather Affect Video Compared to Photos?
The impact of weather is more noticeable in video. Unlike photos, video footage can’t be enhanced as extensively in post-production. Cloudy skies and dim light can result in footage that feels flatter, especially in exterior scenes. While interior footage often looks consistent either way, a sunny day gives your video more warmth, contrast, and life—especially if you want that high-energy, visually dynamic feel.

What Happens if It Rains?
We do not shoot in active rain, as it can damage our equipment and affect the overall quality of the content—especially for exterior shots. If rain is in the forecast, we’ll touch base with you ahead of time. You’ll have the option to either move forward (if conditions allow) or reschedule for better weather.
There’s no cancellation or rescheduling fee as long as we’re notified before our team arrives.
Can I Split My Photo and Video Shoots Across Different Days?
Yes—if you want to proceed on a cloudy day but wait for clear skies for video or exteriors, we’re happy to break the shoot into two sessions. Just note that our bundled pricing only applies when both are completed in one visit.
We also offer optional exterior-only reshoots for an additional fee if you need content quickly but still want sunny visuals once the weather clears.
Should I Reschedule If the Weather Isn’t Ideal?
That depends on your timeline and your visual goals. If you’re under a tight deadline, we can still deliver strong results on a cloudy day, especially for interiors. If you’re holding out for sunny skies—whether for vibrant visuals, strong exterior shots, or dynamic video—it might be worth waiting.
We’re happy to advise based on the forecast and help you choose the best option.
